June 28 @ 8:00 am - June 30 @ 5:00 pm
I am excited to announce to you all that (pending any kind of COVID-related restrictions) we are going to try again to do Summer Math Camp! For those of you that don’t know, for the past few years, we have sent many facilitators to Texas to attend Kim Sutton’s Summer Math Camp! We sent so many people that she agreed to do a session with us at SCVi last year!…but then, for obvious reasons, we had to cancel…but NOW, they have offered us the chance to try it again! This means that if you are interested in sending people this year, we get a discount on the fee to attend, which is already a super great deal for a three day training AND if you are based in California, you ALSO won’t have to worry about the costs associated with travel!
As it looks right now, Math Camp will take place June 28-30 (Monday through Wednesday) at SCVi, and will be for anyone that works with math K-5th grade (though if we have enough interest from higher grades, I may just do something for them as well…)
The people at Creative Mathematics are currently working on the flyer to send out, so I will send you more information when I have it, but I wanted to give you the heads up to speak with your facilitators (you can forward this email if it is easier) so that they will be able to plan around the dates if they are interested in going, and to allow you to budget accordingly (I’m not sure what the discount is this year, but for now assume at least a $300 workshop fee per person sent (it is usually less than that) plus any extra that could go toward purchasing any of their incredible math manipulatives (they really have some GREAT stuff!)
This is honestly one of the best math trainings for Elementary Teachers that I have ever attended, and I highly recommend that you encourage your facilitators, and your care team (or anyone else that will be working with K-5 math) to take advantage of this incredible opportunity (I would try to send at least one person per grade band!) I would also encourage you as leaders to attend, if you are able to, so that you can feel more comfortable in coaching and guiding your facilitators with math strategies throughout the year! :))
Let me know if you have any questions at all! More information will come soon!
Happy! Happy! <3 <3
