Why Teamwork Is Better than Group Work!
Meet the Maker
Thom Markham, Senior Global Advisor
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
It was from my mother, who told me many times, “Keep your head in the clouds but your feet on the ground!”
Why is this month’s Making Magic important?
Because learning is social, and when we think in terms of teams, we can guide that learning in a productive, positive way.
This Week’s Focus
Collaboration in Project-Based Learning
How can we improve social-emotional learning through good teamwork?
A key aspect of PBL is collaboration. Yet too often we leave collaboration to chance rather than applying good pedagogy to learning the most important skill for life and work. The key is to see teamwork as a social-emotional learning tool, not just a good thing to do.
How do you start? Use a solid collaboration rubric that encourages good listening, empathy, responsibility and positive team skills. Start the project with a team contract to set the tone and direction for your teams.
